Until my farm adventure started I stayed in Brisbane. There I met all the people again who were in my Ultimate Oz group. During my travels I met Ian, Matt and Keith several times in Byron and Surfer's but I haven't seen the others in weeks.
We stayed at the Base hostel in the middle of the city.
On my first day I applied for several jobs and it took my a whole day in the library to create my cv and write all the letters.. But luckily I was in good company with my British boys :D
During the evenings we spent quite some time in the Down Under Bar next to the hostel or in Charly's and Sarah's drom room playing drinking games and catching up what we were up to during the past weeks.
The second day I discovered that Brosbane has a really nice superficial lagoon next to the sea. It is a bit funny that 10 metres from the pool there is the real sea but the kids who were swimming in the water were having fun.
Work & Travel in Down Under
Travelling all over Australia, hopefully: Sydney, Nelson Bay, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay, Surfer's Paradise, Brisbane, Tamworth

Surfer's Paradise
My last stop before reaching Brisbane was Surfer's Paradise. I have to admit I dind't really like this town, that's why I stayed there just for two nights. The main reason could have been my hostel. It was a rather cheap one and I stayed in a 14 bed dorm.
On top of that I had the feeling that Surfer's contains just huge skyscrapers. There is a lot of space for tourists but I didn't really know why you would particularry come there for holidays. In my opinion Byron Bay was so much more beautiful and there was enough going on during day and night. The beach was a lot prettier and I saw heaps more surfers at Byron's beaches.
But still I got some nice pictures and I enjoyed this short trip.
The weather was a bit chilly during theday and it rained on the first day.
Luckily I wasn't alone and had Jana as a good company. On the rainy day we went to see "Me before you" in the cinema which was great. We cried litres of tears because the film was soooooo sad but still wonderful. And the actors are just amazing, if you haven't watched it yet you should really do that. In the evening we had a delicious dinner for just $7, did I say it was a big steak? :P
During the other days we went shopping or enjoyed the beach.
When I wanted to hop on to the bus to Brisbane I met Jonas again. He just finished a week of woofing but unfortunately we took a differnt bus. :/

Nimbim
On Sunday we booked the Nimbim tour. Nimbim is a tiny hippie village (more like one street) one hour from Byron. In the 60s or 70s there was a festival in Nimbim and some hippies decided to stay there afterwards and founded this village. It is known for beein a free zone to consume certain substancies. Jana and I had a fun time there but we were glad to return after this day. :) In our hostel we met three German boys who actually stayed there for six days, crazy...

Byron Bay
At the end of June I stayed in Byron Bay for a week. I met two wonderful grils there and they made my time really special.
On the day I arrived I met Amy-Rose a supercool girl from good old "Tassie" how she used to say it. We were about the same age and shared a room in the hostel. We did a lot of surfing together but also went out couple of nights to go to pubs and clubs. She was just on holidays at the east coast and had to leave after five days, unfortunately. But I wanna see her again when I come to visit her in Tassie.
The gril was Jana, I must have mentioned her earlier, because we met first in Sydney. She arrived at my third day in Byron and from this day we three did most of the stuff together, including lots of shopping.
Jana and I stayed in the Aquarius hostel for three nights. On the first evening we did some karaoke singing and eventhough we are awful singers we sounded not too bad and should have won the prize for the best singing performance. I had a video of us performing Mamma Mia, but it was on my old dead phone. :( Instead of a prize we got some free drinks, at least.

Dolphin Marine Sanctury in Coffs Harbour on 27th June
Hello there,
I know it has been very long since I last updated my blog. I am very sorry for that. But no I have a whole day in town and should be able to catch up on everything that happened during the last months.
When I stayed in Coffs Harbpur for four days I visited the dolphin park around the corner and had some incredible adventures. The first time in my life I touched a dolphin and was kissed by one! Same woth the cute seals, and I also got the chance to hand feed them and to play little games with them.
Unfortunately the animals had just small pools where they lived in, but I promised myself not to go in such a waterpark again. Once in my life I wanted to see dolphins from very close but that`s enough. I kind of had a really guilty feeling supporting parks that keep their animals in small pools.
But I still had a lot of fun and got some awesome pictures I wanna show you.
The rest of the days I went to the beach tried to do some surfing and body boarding which didn't work out as good as I hoped :D Furthermore I met some nice guys, Jonas from Germany and Kevin from France and we three did some konoeing and stand-up paddeling at the creek which was a lot of fun, but also very cold.

Koala hospital in Port Macquarie on 23rd June
On Thursday morning I went for a scenic costal walk in Port Macquarie and then went to the koala hospital. It was something like a dream com true, because I was so close to those cute little things..
It is the only koala hospital in the world. They give shelter to koalas who got run over by a car, bitten by a dog or who fell from trees, just to give you an example. Most of the koalas suffered from clamydia which is really dangerous for them, but luckily it is cureable. Other ones have a broken bone or problems with their eye.. Those injuries can lead to life long disability of the koalas, because if they just have one good leg or are blind they are not able to climb at trees or escpae predators..
But most koalas can be released in the wild again.
When I was there, there weren`t many koalas, which is a good thing, even though I just saw 7 koalas.
I think about adopting a koala, which only costs $55 a year (36€). You should check out the website. Unfortunately the hospital doesn`t get financial support from the government therefore they are happy for every donation.

Manly beach 22nd June
Last Wednesday Anna, Kim, Julia, Jana and me did a three hours hike from Manly beach to the old quarantine zone of Sydney. It was really nice weather, perfect for hiking and we girls a a lot to talk about.
Jana and I were in the same room in Wake Up hostel for 3 days and we became freinds over this short time. She is a 25 years old girl from Flensburg who just finished her master studies. She is now travelling around the world and luckily we met each other during her stay in Sydney. We will meet in Byron Bay at the end of this week again and I `m really looking forward to it.
The hike in Manly wasn`t so spectacular but we had some really nice views at the city skyline and could breath the fresh air of the sea.
I just put up some photos so you can see by yourselfs.
