Yesterday night I arrived at the Wake Up hostel in Sydney. The hostel is located next to the central station in Haymarket.
But I actually wanna tell you something about my flight..
Wednesday morning I wasen't so excited, but I couldn't sleep all night so I was kind of tired most of the day. My gril friends Julie, Lena, Hanna and Caro came by and we went to a nice café in Königsdorf to have some breakfast. After that my dad picked us up to drive to the Düsseldorf airport.
At 14.40 me and my 18kg backpack had to board to flight EK058 to Dubai. The farewell of my family and friends wasn't as sad as expected, probably because I did the whole thing four years ago :D
The airplane was mot even 1/3 booked so I had three seats for myself. I sat quite comfy and nobody disturbed me. For a late lunch at 4.30 pm (German time) I had a low calorie menu because I wanted to test the superspecial meus that are included in the ticket price. But it not too bad, except for the potatoes but for me it was just not enough. Hungry as I was I watched Heidi and The dressmaker on the entertainment program and just like that the 6 1/2 hoours where over and the plane landed in Dubai.
In Dubai it wasn't busy at all to find the right gate. I traveled there by train and had enough time. While I was sitting in the waiting area I talked to a really nice British lady who was visiting her daughter. Finally we got on the plane, which was an older version of the Airbus A380, the same I traveled four years ago.
A fourteen hours flight ahead I first slept for about 5 hours. Actually I planned on watching movies the whole time, but my eyes couldn't focus on the screen anymore so I decided it was time for bed.
I had a window seat and the middle seat was free so I had a little comfort to strech my legs from time to time.
Unfortunately I overslept the breakfast and when I woke up I was sooo hungry. I watched Goosebumps and Eddy the Eagle and then finally I got some food when it was only 3h to go.
Something I didn't like was that they kept the windows shut down and although it was light outside already I wasn't allowed to enojoy this wonderful view. Finally I could catch some brief sights of the desert when we flew above Western Australia. But it become nighttime to soon so I couldn't see anymore.
At 9.45 pm the plane landed in Sydney. Collecting my baggage and hoing to the security and pass control was really fast. After 45min I sat outside the airport and waited for my shuttle service to the hostel. As you see I arrived at the hostel, but I had to wait almost an hour. Annoying but at least it was cold (16 degrees). Another Australian bus driver was very nice and called in at the hostel to ask when my transport is planning to pick me up.
Well everybody I met so far was very friendly and helpful.
That's enough for today. I guess I will have some time for a new post tomorrow evening. Today I will go the the Darling Harbour to watch a light show and there is a snow party at the hostel. I met a nice German girl and we do the evening activities together.
